Speelium Revisited

My latest project for my MA is exploring the idea of the handmade aesthetic in advertising and branding. As just an initial experiment before the project really began, I created these as an advert for Honda. Speelium of course isn’t real, but the idea is that it ignites the imagination of the viewer, getting them to think about how amazing Speelium cars would be. And the whole time they are thinking how liberating, ingenius, and innovative it is, they are picturing the Honda Civic. Simple but effective? Maybe. As I said these are just initial concepts of how the handmade aesthetic could be used in car advertising, as the present style of adverts are the polar opposite – they are chic, sleek,  and engineered to perfection. Is it possible to create an effective car advert that plays on the nostalgic appeal of the handmade? I’ll keep you posted.
