It’s pronounced ‘Lee – Gull’
Legl is a B2B SAAS platform for law firms that consolidates compliance, payments, and business operations enabling a holistic view of client, matter, and practice risk.
Here’s a smörgåsbord of initiatives that I’ve led as Head of Design since 2023.

Redecorating the house
Sometimes you need to update the architecture, but sometimes just redecorating can provide a significant improvement to the experience with very little investment. The design team are now making their own coding updates to the platform as part of an ongoing overhaul of the UI.
Data led decision making
Besides qualitative research via UserTesting and regular calls with clients, we’ve also baked in quantitive user research during the discovery and post launch phases of our delivery process to validate all assumptions.
Marketing website
Problem: The existing website was outdated and difficult to maintain. It needed an overhaul, and fast.
Solution: Over the course of 3 months, the design team designed, built, and launched a brand new website that has enabled an increase in lead generation, and now hosts extensive rich content.
Role in project: Design and project management
Compliant payments made easy
Problem: Extensive user testing confirmed our suspicions; our payment gateway used by our firm’s clients to make payments to their law firm didn’t look trustworthy, and even gave off scam payment vibes.
Solution: Provide more confirmation data up front such as matter, invoice, and customer reference. Clean up the interface.
Role in project: User research, design
A consistent visual identity
Problem: Legl’s visual identity was still in its infancy when I joined in 2023. Although some of the core building blocks were there, every application of it had a different look and feel.
Solution: An upgrade of the visual identity, followed by a design library of fool-proof self-serve assets that allows anyone in the company to build simple, beautiful marketing and sales material.

Icons. Lots & lots of icons.
Problem: The legal compliance and payments industry is a dry topic, and it’s marketing collateral is therefore awash with stock images of men in suits shaking hands.
Solution: To help navigate content, communicate messages, and help distinguish the Legl brand we created a custom library of over 100 icons.
AI powered CDD summaries
Problem: CDD reports are – and need to be – extensive. Reviewing them becomes less about evaluating risk, and more about searching for the relevant data amongst the noise.
Solution: An AI powered tool that pulls all the relevant data into a single summary for the compliance team to evaluate.
Role in project: Design

Defining a voice inside and out
Problem: Company merch was painful to manage, and barely worn.
Solution: Rather than scrapping the concept of Legl stash entirely, we created quirky, creative designs that our team would choose to wear even outside of work. We then setup a print-on-demand online shop to manage the ordering, so we only ever ordered what was needed. No more stacks of XXXL t-shirts gathering dust in the office.
Don’t forget about the PIG
The Legl Product Innovation Group (PIG) was an initiative led by the CPO to create an engaged group of our core users that could provide feedback on concepts and ideas, and help with industry context.
Role in project: Branding & merch design
